There are of course infinite ways to arrange bit shape, cutter size, number of cutters,  number of blades, and cutter back rake that will

affect how the resulting bit will transfer a given amount of energy in order to drill a given formation or formations. The bit types at top are

generally heavy set with blunt cutter settings. The bit at bottom is generally light set with maximum back rake. Lighter set bits with the

cutters that have back rake will generally drill faster than others but will generally be less abrasion resistant (shorter life).
